Aydarkul

Aydarkul Lake is called the « turquoise sea in the sands ». He is able to delight and charm the most experienced, who have seen a lot of different beauties and rarities of nature on earth. Aydarkul Lake is a kind of ecological antipode of the Aral Sea, a huge reservoir without a drain. It attracts travelers tired of the desert and the steppes.

Arriving at the Aydar-Arnaisai water system, you first experience an irrepressible pleasure. On the one hand – the Kyzylkum desert, and on the other – the blue expanse of the lake, beyond which you can see the mountain ranges. There used to be salt marshes here. Then there were lakes formed by mountain rivers and streams. Now, together with the waters of the Shardara reservoir, they are merged into a huge body of water – Aydarkul Lake.

The reservoir covers 3000 square kilometers. More than three kilometers from the coast, it is impossible to get away on an ordinary motor boat. To safely get to the center of Aydarkul, you need a boat with a powerful engine. Aydarkul is 247m above sea level (according to the Baltic system).

There are no underwater currents on Aydarkul Lake. The further west you are, the saltier the water. To the west, mineralization is greater than 8 grams per liter. And in the mouth is 3-5 grams/liter, which creates comfortable conditions for bio-organic life. Suitable conditions allow the lake to give a third of all fish in the republic and is considered the basis of fishing. In Aydarkul there is a huge amount of fish such as pike-perch, carp, asp, catfish, bream. There are many different waterfowl here. Among the few, you may encounter rosy pelicans, swans, divers, white herons, etc. The lake attracts with its beautiful beaches and groves along the banks.

Sights and attractions of Aydarkul

Aydarkul and especially the Kyzylkum desert with its yurt camps offers you a unique opportunity to ride on the backs of Central Asian camels and dromedaries, stay in a nomadic yurt, listen to songs of akyn – Kazakh singers from the Uzbek steppes around the fire in the middle of the desert, where you can always see the milky way especially in summer. A total change of scenery, peace of mind and guaranteed rest.

A possibility of swimming in Aydarkul Lake, walks in small boats of local fishermen and fishing (under certain conditions).
