Chimgan is 80 km from Tashkent, it is a picturesque corner of nature, it is the most pleasant place for rest of inhabitants and guests of the capital. Chimgan is located at an altitude of 1200-1600 meters above sea level and is surrounded by mountains. The great mountain Chimgan (3309 m), it is also called as Bolshoy, is the main peak of the valley. Chimgan Mountains include such beautiful places as Gulkam, Beldersay, Amirsay and others. In addition, this district is the most ecological part of Uzbekistan because these places are part of the Umga-Chatkal National Park, under the protection of which there are various mountain landscapes of the western Tien-Shan. Due to its unique beauty and health-promoting properties it has rightly been called « Uzbek Switzerland ». The mountain slopes here are covered with relict juniper forests. The mountains and hills are full of fast mountain streams. They are simply called « say ». Besides, there is always an abundance of various fish in the Chimgan rivers, which attracts fishing enthusiasts. There is fresh and pure air with the aroma of many flowers and herbs (the word « Tchimgan » or « Tchim yon » is translated as « green grass », « green valley »).
The development of this territory as a recreation area began already in the pre-revolution period. At the end of the 19th century Russian doctors and officers built the hospital in Chimgan, discovering the healing properties of mountain air. And after the construction of the country residence of the Governor General of Turkestan, Chimgan gained popularity among citizens as a perfect recreation area.
The Chimgan tourist complex includes numerous high-rise buildings, hotels, chalets, cable cars, networks of shops, bars, restaurants, cafes and other recreational institutions such as recreation areas , sanatoriums, holiday camps. The main influx of tourists to this place occurs in winter and spring. In winter, this region is the favorite place for winter sports enthusiasts: downhill skiing, sledding, snowboarding, free-riding. The ski season starts in December and lasts until March. Spring is the season for mountaineers, climbers, surfers. In summer, Chimgan invites you to make interesting routes in mountain landscapes, to fly a paraglider, to ride a horse. Also, the Chimgan Mountains attract tourists with their apple and fir forests, thorn and rosehip bushes, rushing rivers, beautiful lakes and waterfalls.
People come here either for a short period in order to relax after daily work, or for a long period in order to have a good time in the company of friends.
